7TH ALUMNI MEETING

From Integrated Optics to Integrated Quantum Optics

7TH ALUMNI MEETING

April 19 to 21, 2024, Paderborn

Invitation

Der 7. „Tag der Ehemaligen“ unserer früheren Arbeitsgruppe „Angewandte Physik/Integrierte Optik“ der Universität Paderborn (AG Sohler) steht diesmal unter dem Thema

"From Integrated Optics to
Integrated Quantum Optics"

We - the organizing team (Irmgard Zimmermann, Harald Herrmann, Ulrich Rust, Christian Wersig, Wolfgang Sohler) warmly invite you again!

We have set the following weekend as the date:

Friday, April 19th until Sunday, April 21, 2024

Take the opportunity to meet old friends and former colleagues and find out more first-hand about the development of the university and the city of Paderborn over the last 20 years.

In a special symposium, jointly organized by Prof. Sohler and Prof. Silberhorn, specialist lectures are planned with insights into the professional world of some alumni from the industry relevant to integrated optics and quantum optics (optical communications, semiconductor and laser technology, microfabrication). In addition, there is a review of selected topics from almost 30 years of research work by the Integrated Optics Working Group und and in-depth insights into the current research of the Integrated Quantum Optics Working Group.A university tour and laboratory tours complete the symposium with many opportunities for exchange and networking.

The Schedule

We start on Friday afternoon with a welcome coffee in the Paderborn Schützenhof, followed by a good buffet in the evening. There will be plenty of time here to chat extensively and exchange memories.

Lectures on exciting topics from the professional lives of individual alumni, a report on the structural and content-related development of the university and a tour of selected buildings are planned for Saturday. In the afternoon, Prof. Christine Silberhorn (Leibniz Prize winner, successor to Mr. Sohler) will report on the development of her own “Integrated Quantum Optics” working group since 2010. There will then be an opportunity to visit the associated technology and selected optics laboratories. A new building is under construction!

On Sunday morning the focus will be on seeing the city of Paderborn again. A city tour is planned in which we can refresh memories and (re)discover old and new things. Our meeting will end with a shared lunch in the center of the city.
